Lazio will be looking to put further pressure on Serie A leaders Juventus by continuing their strong home form when they do battle with Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday (2pm GMT).
Lazio are second in Serie A with 39 points from 12 wins, three draws and four defeats, just five points behind the leaders.
It has been an impressive first half of the season for the Biancocelesti and new coach Vladimir Petkovic, whose wing focused play has yielded excellent results thus far.
Petkovic likes his side to attack aggressively in the opening exchanges, as evidenced by the fact that if Serie A matches finished at half time Lazio would be the league leaders. They have been particularly effective at home, scoring 11 goals before the interval and leading six of their 10 home matches going into the break.
Atalanta, on the other hand, have often made life difficult for themselves by conceding early on their travels. They have been behind at half-time in five of their 10 away matches to date, a statistic that has contributed to their away record of two wins, two draws and six defeats so far this season.
The Nerazzurri are 12th in Serie A, the same position they finished last season and are having a solid campaign, albeit one characterised by a lack of goals. They are the fifth-lowest scorers in Serie A, chiefly because the output from German Denis and Maxi Moralez has decreased in comparison to last season.
This Preview’s Betting Tip: Lazio have won each of their last five home matches and have lost just once at the Stadio Olimpico so far this season. They start strongly, while Atalanta struggle on their travels, leading us to suggest backing Lazio on a half time/full time double @ 6/4 with Paddy Power or William Hill.
