Inter Milan aim to snap out of their recent poor form when they do battle with Torino at the San Siro on Sunday (7.45pm GMT, live on ESPN).
The Nerazzurri have won only one of their last five matches in Serie A and just three in ten since winning away to league leaders Juventus in early November. Such form has seen them slip to fourth, nine points shy of Juve with 39 points from 12 wins, three draws and six defeats.
Coach Andrea Stramaccioni has had a number of injury problems to deal with throughout this run of poor results, but is finally getting all his key players back to full fitness, with Antonio Cassano set to return to the starting line-up for Sunday’s match.
Torino are currently defying expectations, sitting 11th in the table with 26 points from six wins, nine draws and six defeats in their first season back in the top flight following a three year absence. They are also in good form, having recorded three wins and two draws in their last five matches.
The Granata’s promotion campaign was built around a strong, well-organised defence who conceded just 28 goals in 42 matches and coach Giampiero Ventura has continued to rely on this element of his team in the top flight. The numbers are not quite as impressive – 24 conceded in 21 matches – but Torino still have the fifth-best defensive record in the division.
Betting Tip: Torino have kept three clean sheets in their last five matches and have made a habit of keeping things tight in the early exchanges away from home, conceding just three times in the first half during their 11 away matches to date.
Eight of those 11 matches have been ties at half-time, as have five of Inter’s 10 home matches, leading us to suggest backing a draw at half-time @ 13/10 with BetVictor.
