Ladbrokes is one of the biggest names in online and offline sports betting, and it offers new users £30 of Free Bets. This huge company boasts a spot on the FTSE 100 Index on the stock market, millions of satisfied punters from all over the world, and a history that dates back to 1886! The bookmaker positions itself as an all-encompassing online bookie and online gaming site that includes poker, bingo, casino, lotto and virtual gaming options, all accessible using just one account. While they may not have the best selection of bonuses and promos as some of the other online sportsbooks, their variety of sports and related events, plus their reputed consistently decent odds might win you over in the end. Let’s take a closer look at what Ladbrokes Sport has to offer.
Upon reaching the home page, you’re greeted by a top centre section consisting of the latest sports news in brief, along with a few markets and their prices, giving you the option to jump straight to placing a bet on the most popular events without having to search for them. These six rotating news items make that process a snap.
To the left of that, right under the Sport menu item on the navigation bar, you’ll find links to both Football (soccer) and Horse Racing, which of course are the two most bet on activities, again making it easy to just jump right to your chosen betting opportunity without having to mess about.
Moving down the left side of the page, you’ll find a list of items, the first of which is the Live Betting option. Click this for a list of currently running events available to bet on, and by clicking on the Upcoming tab you’ll find a list of in-play events scheduled for the next 2 days – very handy for planning your sports betting!
Under Live Betting is Favourites, which you can customize by adding markets of your choice, such as those you tend to bet on more frequently. This is a great feature, which you can also use to build up your coupon in one go, without having to place all your bets individually.
After Favourites you’ll find Betting (A-Z), which is basically your list of all events available to bet on at Ladbrokes.
Back to the center, under the news items, you’ll find upcoming sporting events with their odds listed, followed by a good selection of news items for more upcoming markets from around the world.
The right side of the home page is where you’ll find your bet slip, a little live betting at-a-glance box, links to other areas of the website, such as Casino, Poker, Games and Financials, and a section on the latest deals and promos going on across the selection of brands.
Right at the bottom left is your option to change the odds format, with your choice of Fractions, Decimal or American, and a search box at the top centre of the page lets you search for your betting opportunity in seconds.
The site is laid out pretty well considering that’s a lot of information all presented in the one place! It’s refreshingly easy to find exactly what you’re looking for and the site design adds to the ease of use.
Plus, mobile device users will be pleased to know that Ladbrokes Bookmaker also has an app, allowing you to place your bets, deposit and withdraw, etc while you’re out and about.
You’ll find a truly impressive selection of sporting events available to stake your cash on at Ladbrokes Bookies. They range from the most popular, such as Football (soccer), Horse Racing, Tennis, Golf, Rugby and Greyhounds, to some rather more obscure, less common sports, such as Inter-county Hurling and Football, Mixed Martial Arts, Speedway and US Harness Racing, which isn’t commonly covered by many UK based sportsbooks.
On top of that you’ll also find chances to bet on virtual dogs and horses, which has grown in popularity over the years, and a variety of specials and entertainment related betting opportunities, such as BBC Sports Personality of the Year, Turner Prize winner and Big Brother markets.
Politics also has a spot, with a good selection of betting opportunities available covering US, UK, Irish, Scottish and London specific markets, as well as UK political party-specific markets and some political specials too.
Bonuses and Promotions
New bettors can get free bets of up to €/£30 when they make a deposit of €/£10 or more and use the correct bonus code of THREE10 when they register. The way this bonus works is that you get your first bet of £10 or more matched up to a tenner. That money is credited upon settlement of your first wager. Then seven days later you receive another free £10 and a week after that another one. So you get 3 x £10 free.
Make sure you read the T&Cs for this bonus offer since it’s not applicable for certain deposit methods, it only counts for certain types of bets (ie. win only), and you can’t place it in the same market as your original deposit.
A bit of a drawback for Ladbrokes Sport is that you won’t find a specific promotions page for the sportsbook. As far as actual promotions go, the only one we could find advertised on the site was Beat the Bookie, which involved sending in football predictions via webcam for the chance to ‘beat the bookie’ and win bets for a year. It was only when we visited the page detailing this promo that we found a link to other promotions, which included opportunities to win bonuses and money back offers on certain selections. Most of the emphasis seems to be on keeping prices competitive for the punters, which is good if you’re always on the lookout for a good bargain, but not so good if you like decent promos.
Under the Extras menu you’ll find a range of useful items including results and stats, racing commentary and form, and even a cool little feature called RaceClubs Virtual Owner, where you get to train your own virtual horse!
There’s also the Odds On! Card, where you earn points for every bet you place in one of more than 2,000 of their offline shops. These points can then be swapped for free bets and/or bonus vouchers.
Deposit and withdrawal methods include most major credit/debit cards and a variety of e-wallets including Paypal, Neteller, Moneybookers (Skrill), Ukash, Click and Buy, Paysafe card and others. You can also use bank transfer and Western Union. Plus, you can deposit funds into your online account through one of the offline shops. Payments are renowned as being fast and secure at Ladbrokes and there are a surprising number of supported currencies available. Unfortunately, US residents are not allowed to bet at this online bookmaker.
Multilingual support is available 24/7 via phone, email and live chat. There are several country-specific freephone support numbers available and be sure to check out the Help section of the Ladbrokes site too.
What we think
This site has loads of events, good software and a big, well-known and honourable name to bet with. The free bet is not the biggest in the industry but we do rate Ladbrokes Bookmaker highly.
