When a new, partially artificial, pitch was laid at the San Siro in the summer, few would have predicted it would take until late-September for one of two Milan clubs to win on it. With AC Milan having finally broken the hoodoo in midweek, Inter will now be hoping to record their first home win of the campaign when they host Fiorentina on Sunday (7.45pm, BST).
Inter’s away form has been very impressive, and they again picked up three points on Wednesday, defeating Chievo 2-0. Their coach, Andrea Stramaccioni, switched to a 3-5-1-1 formation for that fixture and has intimated that he could persevere with the formation against Fiorentina, who themselves play a 3-5-2.
Stramaccioni’s charges were slightly fortunate against Chievo, some superb goalkeeping from Samir Handanovic and clinical finishing at the other end securing them the victory. Fiorentina, meanwhile, were excellent against Juventus. It was only their lack of a potent goal threat that saw the match end scoreless.
Fiorentina showed concrete signs of gelling into a very useful team in that match and new coach Vincenzo Montella was very pleased with their performance.
Betting Tip: Inter have been clinical in front of goal so far this season (31% of their shots on target have found the back of the net), which has masked some below par performances. If Fiorentina can function at a similar level to midweek it is tempting to think they could get something from the match. Bet on Fiorentina +0.5 on the Asian Handicap @ 3/4 with BetVictor.
