Catania have suffered two unlucky results recently and will want to end their misfortune when Lazio visit the Stadio Angelo Massimino on Sunday (2pm GMT).
In midweek they were unlucky to concede a 93rd minute equaliser to draw 2-2 away to Udinese, while last weekend they lost 1-0 to Juventus under contentious circumstances, the referee disallowing a perfectly good Catania goal and allowing an offside one from Juventus.
That defeat was the first Catania had suffered at home this season, coming after three victories and one draw in their previous four matches in Sicily. They have made a solid start to the campaign and are currently 10th, one place better off than the 11th they finished last season.
Lazio have been very impressive at times in 2012/13, recording six wins from their first ten fixtures, but have lost away from home to both of the strong teams they have faced – 3-0 to Napoli and 2-0 to Fiorentina.
They are currently in fourth place, seven points ahead of Catania, but will be significantly weakened for Sunday’s fixture by the suspension of Miroslav Klose, scorer of six goals already this season. Lazio (best at 2/1 with Bet365 or Ladbrokes) lack a similarly prolific scorer to replace the German, with none of their other forwards having found the back of the net so far.
This Preview’s Betting Tip: Catania have a good home record and with Lazio’s attacking potency blunted by the absence of Klose have enough about them to secure victory on Sunday.
