Atalanta are one of Serie A’s form teams and will be hopeful of continuing their good run when they host struggling Genoa on Sunday (2pm GMT).
The Nerazzurri finished in a highly credible 12th place in their first campaign back in Serie A last season and with Stefano Colantuono still in charge and a relatively stable squad have begun this season in even better form.
They are currently eighth in the table. There have been a couple of disastrous outings, most notably last weekend’s 4-1 defeat away to Fiorentina and the 5-1 home loss to Torino. However Atalanta have generally showed themselves to be a good, solid team, who in Maxi Moralez, Giacomo Bonaventura and German Denis have players capable of creating and scoring goals.
Atalanta had won four of their five matches prior to the defeat to Fiorentina and have performed well at home so far this season, winning four out of six, including victories over Napoli and Inter Milan.
Genoa have endured a terrible season and are currently rooted to the bottom of the table. They have won just one of their last ten matches and have lost their last six on the bounce, including last weekend’s 3-1 defeat against Sampdoria in the Derby della Lanterna.
The Rossoblu have scored a goal per match on average, but have conceded a total of 22, the fourth-worst record in Serie A. They have conceded ten times in the five matches since Luigi Del Neri replaced Luigi De Canio in late October, scoring just three in the same period.
This Preview’s Betting Tip: Atalanta are in the midst of an excellent run and have won each of their last three home matches. They should have enough to overcome a horribly out of form Genoa who are yet to secure a point since Del Neri took charge.
- Therefore, back Atalanta to win @ best odds of 7/8 with Pinnacle.
